- "Nothing would give me greater satisfaction than to destroy that bunch of second-rate phone freaks."
- ―Jon Spiro[src]
The name of the company is a play on the word "phonetics".
The Eternity Code
In the third book, Phonetix was the only communications company that had a higher stock than Jon Spiro's company Fission Chips. Jon Spiro, Arno Blunt, Pex, Chips, and Artemis break into Phonetix laboratories because Spiro wants to put it out of business. However, Spiro, Pex, and Chips get arrested when their plan backfires.
Phonetix was the city's biggest single employer, and one of the top five subscribers to the Police Benevolent Fund.
