Gnomes are one of the eight fairy families of the People. They are known to be short and overweight, but there are rare occasions of a tall and skinny gnome. Ark Sool is an example of this. Gnomes are barely ever mentioned in the books, but Captain Holly Short describes them as "Big and lumbering, with their rear ends blocking two lanes." Also, a gnome gets thrown out of a mixer by Doodah Day.
