The fungus cigar is mentioned many times in the Artemis Fowl series. In the first book of the Artemis Fowl series when Julius goes to talk with Artemis, he declares that Artemis isn't such a barbarian when he sees the ash trays and he immediatly takes out his fungus cigar. Julius Root is known to chew on and seems to be the only character who likes them. Foaly comments on the cigar saying that the smoke isn't good for his computers, so Root, not wanting to risk a computer crash douses it in a cup of coffee. Commander Root is also known to chew on unlit fungus cigars instead of lighting them. He does this in The Eternity Code when he is awaiting the news from Foaly that they had been pinged.
