Eoin Colfer is an Irish novelist. He is the author of the Artemis Fowl series.

He was born on May 14th, 1965 in Wexford, Ireland. He still lives in Ireland, where he taught until 2001, when the success of the Artemis Fowl books allowed him to focus on his writing. Characters from Artemis Fowl were originally teaching tools.

He now lives in Ireland with his wife Jackie, their two sons Sean and Finn, and an "overactive imagination"[1]. "Eoin" is pronounced as the English name "Owen".

The Artemis Fowl series currently spans six books:

In addition, there are the The Artemis Fowl Files, which contain (among other things) the short stories LEPRecon and The Seventh Dwarf, the latter of which was previously published seperately for World Book Day. Both were first published in 2004. There is also a Graphic Novel of the first book, published in 2007.

Colfer has said that there won't be another Artemis Fowl book for at least two years after the publication of The Time Paradox, which coincides with the release date of The Atlantis Complex.


He has written many other books including:

It was announced on the 16th of September 2008 that Colfer will write the sixth book in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "trilogy". The book, titled "And Another Thing...", is set for publication on the 12th of October 2009.
