ProgressEdit

In an August 2008 interview, Colfer stated that "we are finished writing it [the film script], now we are just waiting for the green light." In addition, at the 2008 Hay Festival Colfer stated that a dispute was being settled over whether the film should be a CGI production or shot in live-action, with Colfer apparently favouring the latter.[citation needed]

On April 27th, 2009, Eoin Colfer announced that the movie is still under work.[2]

In February 2011, Eoin Colfer announced over his official site that the Artemis Fowl movie has been shelved.

An Artemis Fowl movie was confirmed by Eoin Colfer earlier, however. In an Artemis Fowl Confidential interview, Colfer stated that the screenplay was still being written, but pre-production was at a standstill because of the recently-ended WGA strike. He stated as a joke that it would be finished "two years after he died."[citation needed]

ScreenwritersEdit

According to a source e-mail posted on a page of the Artemis Fowl Confidential on the Artemis Fowl movie, Oscar-nominee Jim Sheridan and Simon Carmody are the authors of the film's screenplay.[1] Colfer also worked with the two, though not listed as a major contributor to the scriptwriting process.[3]

PlotEdit

According to Colfer, the movie will combine the plot of the first two books in the original Artemis Fowl series and that there would be a different ending to the film than the novels, but the rest of the movie would be true to the books.[citation needed]

"The movie is progressing slowly- been going for 8 years now. Soon, my pretty. Soon. (in Gollum voice)"
Eoin Colfer announcing from his Twitter account[2]
